Present
Hello, I’m Kevin. I'm a ceramic artist working out of my home studio in Gulfport, Mississippi. To date I make and develop each process myself with a desire every piece develops it's own unique expression.
I jump between staying on top of my wholesale line, studio work, updating the website, and keeping content moving. Right now production is slow because I’m spending most of my time learning how to film, edit, and post efficiently. Once that feels natural, I’ll be settling into a new pace.
Much of the work becoming available is an eclectic group of the pieces that have been personally selected from each firing past to present. Since offering work myself is rather new, I'm trying different methods to see what works. If you want to receive news and updates, or to know when work is released, sign up for the newsletter below.
If you're interested in behind-the-scenes, finished works, and live studio hangouts, follow along on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.
That’s us in a nutshell. Thanks for stopping by!
Past
I discovered clay in high school. I bounced through three colleges in Mississippi, while taking local workshops and apprenticing trying to learn all that I could. After school my buddy Andy and I were obsessed: building kilns, firing anything, putting the work first. I was working on a big series with a New Orleans artist Robert Tannen when one firing wiped it all out. I walked away, started a new job fixing cell phones, 15 years later found myself stuck in the proverbial rut.
My midlife crisis took me to hiked the entire Appalachian Trail. After having cleared my head, I came home to get back into the studio. Andy called: Topdrawer in Boston needed sake cups. I started throwing for them, got my footing back, met and married Leila, and finally decided I wanted to take the time to learn how to share my studio life and story. 2021 I started posting.
Since then it's been slow moving, but the trail taught me to be fulfilled in the journey not the the destination.
