Without Words
Welcome — if you're new here, we're Kevin & Leila, and this is where we keep you close to what we're building.
We've got new work coming out of the kiln, and we're excited for you to see it. But we also want to share something bigger that's been forming alongside it — something we're just beginning to put words to ourselves.
Every piece we make is one of a kind. That's not a marketing line, it's how we work — with a loose hand, letting go of any preconceived idea of what "good" pottery is supposed to look like. We shape each piece with intention, knowing where we're taking it even before it's finished. But it's only after the fire, when a piece comes out of the kiln, that its final form becomes clear. And when it does, we don't compare it to the piece next to it. To us, each one is uniquely beautiful. We appreciate it on its own terms.
We believe people are the same way. We're all different — and real comfort, real growth, comes from accepting our own differences, the good and the hard parts both, instead of measuring ourselves against everyone around us. The way we shape each piece, knowing its intention before it's even finished, mirrors something we believe about our Creator — that we're shaped individually, intentionally, and completely. We believe nothing about any of us is an accident. You were not made by accident. Every curve, every mark, even what's thought to be imperfections, are necessary for your uniqueness. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, and that is worth celebrating.
This belief is the whole heart behind a phrase we keep coming back to: it's not about finding the one you love most, but finding what you love most in each one.
We're taking a small step now to say that out loud in a new way — through gift cards. Not because a gift card is exciting on its own, but because of what it lets someone do: give another person the experience of finding artwork that's theirs. Found by them. And along the way, hopefully, they hear something without us having to say a word — that they're uniquely beautiful, exactly as they are.
This is our first real campaign, and we're doing it a little unpolished and a little unsure, because it's new for us too. We just posted a video sharing more of this — the new work, the thinking behind it, where we hope this goes — and we'd genuinely love to hear what you think. This whole thing is us trying to put language to something we've felt in the studio for a long time: that making something honest and imperfect and ours is one small way we get to participate in something bigger — creating beauty, and hope, in a world that could use more of both.
Thank you for being here for it, especially this early. We hope you'll find something — in the work, and maybe in yourself — that you didn't expect to.
With gratitude, Kevin & Leila
